Leaving behind his career of sommelier, James Erskine forged his own path in crafting wines from McLaren Vale, and produce his label - Jauma (Yow-ma). Using all organic approach, their wines are all harvested by hand, wild ferment, and no addictive inside. Just simply fermented grape juice, using wild yeasts, unfiltered and unfined.
James’ winemaking style is difficult to pigeon-hole, as he always manages to blur the line between ‘fun wine’ and ‘fine wine’, full of character, fruit expression and texture, yet with plenty of elegance, detail and structure. It’s worth nothing that all his wines are bottled under crown seal, whether still or sparking. James prefers this method of bottling as it allows for slower aging and prefers the visual aesthetic of these caps to screwcaps.
