Region: Lacrima di Morro d’Alba DOC, Marche, Italy
Grapes: 100% Lacrima di Morro d’Alba

Tasting Profile and Key Notes
Aroma:
Highly aromatic and distinctive, with an intense bouquet of violet, rose petals, and wild strawberries. Notes of ripe cherry, raspberry, blackberry, and subtle musk-like floral tones are complemented by hints of red tea, herbs, and gentle spice. The Lacrima grape is known for its naturally perfumed character, giving this wine an almost floral “rose garden” expression.
Palate:
Medium-bodied, elegant, and fresh with flavours of sour cherry, strawberry, blackberry, and plum. Bright acidity keeps the wine lively, while soft tannins provide a smooth and approachable structure. The finish is aromatic and persistent, carrying lingering notes of violet, rose, red berries, and subtle earthy spice.
Winemaking
The organically farmed Lacrima grapes are harvested from vineyards around Morro d’Alba and undergo traditional red fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The wine is macerated on the skins for approximately 10 days with regular extraction before ageing for around 6 months in stainless steel tanks, followed by 3 months of bottle refinement. This approach preserves the grape’s natural perfume and freshness while maintaining a clean, elegant style.
Farming
The vineyards are located in the Morro d’Alba area of Marche, at around 250 metres elevation, where Lacrima vines grow on medium-textured, clay-influenced soils. Ciù Ciù practices organic viticulture, allowing this rare indigenous grape variety to express its unique floral character, freshness, and Mediterranean identity.
