Ciù Ciù Merlettaie Offida Pecorino DOCG 2022
Type: White (Organic / Low-Intervention)
Region: Offida DOCG, Marche, Italy
Grapes: 100% Pecorino
Alcohol ABV: 13.5%
Tasting Profile and Key Notes:
Fresh and expressive, with aromas of white peach, pear, citrus blossom, grapefruit and Mediterranean herbs, complemented by hints of sage and flinty minerality. Medium-bodied with vibrant acidity, a rounded texture and a long, saline finish that showcases the characteristic freshness and structure of Pecorino.
Winemaking:
The grapes are hand-harvested at optimal ripeness and gently pressed to preserve their delicate aromatics. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, allowing the varietal purity and natural freshness of Pecorino to shine. The wine is aged on its fine lees for several months before bottling, adding texture and complexity while maintaining precision and balance.
Farming:
The fruit comes from organically farmed vineyards in the Offida DOCG zone of Marche, where hillside vineyards benefit from limestone-rich soils and cooling Adriatic breezes. The Mediterranean climate, combined with significant day-night temperature variation, helps preserve acidity while encouraging full flavour development. Ciù Ciù has been a pioneer of certified organic viticulture in Marche, focusing on biodiversity, healthy soils and sustainable vineyard management to express the region's unique terroir.
