Alcohol ABV: 13%

Tasting Profile and Key Notes

Aroma:
An elegant and expressive Rhône white with aromas of white flowers, jasmine, acacia, and citrus blossom. Notes of lemon zest, green apple, pear, and white peach are layered with hints of fresh herbs, almond, and subtle saline minerality. The Viognier brings floral perfume and stone fruit richness, while Clairette, Bourboulenc, and Grenache Blanc contribute freshness and Mediterranean complexity.

Palate:
Medium-bodied with a silky and fluid texture, balanced by vibrant acidity and a refreshing mineral backbone. Flavours of citrus, green apple, peach, and pear are complemented by herbal notes, gentle nuttiness, and a saline finish. Despite Viognier’s natural richness, the wine remains energetic and precise, with excellent freshness and drinkability.

Winemaking

The grapes are hand-harvested and carefully sorted before undergoing spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks. The wine completes ageing for approximately 6 months in stainless steel tanks, preserving freshness and purity of fruit. Domaine Gramenon follows a natural winemaking approach, with limited sulphur additions (maximum around 40 mg/L total SO₂) and minimal intervention.

Farming

The vineyards are located on the Gramenon hillside and plateau near Montbrison-sur-Lez, Southern Rhône, at around 300–350 metres altitude. The vines are farmed biodynamically on a combination of clay-limestone and sandy soils, with the unique siliceous and shell-bearing sandstone geology contributing to the wine’s mineral character and freshness.
