Domaine Gramenon Poignée de Raisins 2023
Type: Light Red Wine (Natural / Biodynamic / Minimal Intervention)
Region: Côtes du Rhône, Rhône Valley, France
Grapes: 90% Grenache, 10% Cinsault
Alcohol ABV: 14%
Tasting Profile and Key Notes
Aroma:
A vibrant and expressive Southern Rhône red bursting with fresh red fruit aromas of strawberry, raspberry, red cherry, and plum. Notes of violet, garrigue herbs, white pepper, and subtle earthy tones add complexity, while the Grenache brings juicy Mediterranean fruit character with a lifted floral freshness.
Palate:
Juicy, silky, and energetic with flavours of ripe raspberry, cherry, cranberry, and plum skin. The palate is medium-light bodied with soft tannins, refreshing acidity, and a bright fruit-driven profile. Despite Grenache’s natural richness, the wine remains elegant and easy-drinking, finishing with notes of spice, herbs, and delicate minerality.
Winemaking
The grapes come from young Grenache vines (approximately 4–30 years old) farmed biodynamically. The fruit is hand-harvested, partially destemmed, and undergoes spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts. After around 15 days of maceration in raw cement tanks, the wine is aged for approximately 6 months in concrete tanks before bottling, with minimal sulphur addition and no unnecessary intervention.
Farming
The vineyards are located on the hills and plateau of Montbrison-sur-Lez, Rhône Valley, at around 350 metres altitude. The vines grow on clay-limestone soils with sandy and siliceous elements, known as “safres”, which help provide freshness and elegance to Grenache. Domaine Gramenon farms biodynamically, focusing on biodiversity, healthy soils, and natural vineyard balance.
