Eraso Tinto 2020

MYR 198.00

Type: Red Wine (Natural / Minimal Intervention)

Region: Rioja Alavesa (DOCa Rioja), Spain

Grapes: 90% Tempranillo, 10% Garnacha

Alcohol ABV: 13.5%

Tasting Profile and Key Notes

Aroma:
Bright and expressive, offering aromas of black cherry, wild blackberry, red plum, and raspberry, layered with violet, Mediterranean herbs, cracked black pepper, and subtle earthy notes. Gentle hints of liquorice and graphite reflect the limestone soils of Rioja Alavesa.

Palate:
Medium-bodied with vibrant acidity and fine-grained tannins. Juicy flavours of sour cherry, blackberry, plum, and cranberry are complemented by savoury herbs, white pepper, and mineral notes. The wine is energetic and fresh, with restrained oak influence, allowing the purity of the fruit and terroir to shine through.

Winemaking

The grapes are hand-harvested from small parcels around Moreda de Álava and fermented spontaneously with indigenous yeasts. Gentle extraction preserves freshness and elegance before the wine is matured mainly in used French oak barrels, avoiding excessive oak character. It is bottled with minimal intervention to express the vineyard rather than the cellar.

Farming

Josean Eraso farms old vineyards in Rioja Alavesa using sustainable, low-intervention viticulture. The vines grow on limestone-clay soils beneath the Sierra Cantabria mountains, where warm days and cool nights help retain acidity while achieving full phenolic ripeness. Low yields and careful manual vineyard work produce wines with purity, freshness, and a strong sense of place.
