Tasting Profile and Key Notes

Aroma:
Fresh and expressive with aromas of wild strawberry, raspberry, cranberry, blood orange, and citrus zest. Delicate floral notes and a subtle mineral character add elegance, giving the wine both vibrancy and depth.

Palate:
Dry, crisp, and energetic with juicy red berry flavours supported by bright acidity and a refreshing mineral backbone. Despite being made from Primitivo, the wine is remarkably elegant and light on its feet, finishing clean with delicate savoury nuances and lingering notes of fresh red fruits.

Winemaking

Hand-harvested Primitivo grapes undergo approximately 15 days of skin maceration before spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks. The wine is matured entirely in stainless steel to preserve its freshness and purity, with no oak influence. Produced with minimal intervention, it is bottled to showcase the vibrant fruit and mineral expression of the vineyard.

Farming

The fruit comes from biodynamically farmed vineyards in Lizzano, Salento, where vines are rooted in the region's characteristic limestone and clay soils under a warm Mediterranean climate. Tenuta Macchiarola is committed to regenerative farming, encouraging biodiversity and healthy vineyard ecosystems to allow each vintage to express the unique character of its terroir with minimal intervention.
